6. Audience, and audience interpretation of the work (200 Words)

Was the reaction different within the group? Does this matter? Is it important that we all have one interpretation?
The work we looked at was the Table and Chairs by Robert Therrien. People had a lot of different emotions and feelings about the artwork. I did like it because it was a crazy piece as you dont see tables and chairs that big. It is OK for people to have different responses to an artwork because art is meant to mean a lot of things.

Therrien had lots of ideas based on how he makes a still life and turns it into something bigger. In the 1990's he wanted to make artwork a bit more unusual and different by using everyday items in a household and making the viewer think hard about what he is trying to do. I thought about a giant sitting down on a chair eating food.

  1. What would happen if people or a person have/had a diffrent reading of a piece of art from your own? Would their reading be any less important than yours?

Think about the message that the artist is trying to tell you an a particular artwork. If two diffrent people have diffrent points of view is one of them wrong? can an artwork have many diffrent meanings? Explain. (this is not easy but give it a go)
